(Articles related to this trend have been included at the end of this notice). Despite this national shortage, the City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation has been able to maintain the necessary levels of staffing to keep our aquatics facilities open and running throughout the year.

It is with deep sadness that we must share this is no longer the case.

Due to inadequate staffing, beginning Monday, September 9, 2019, the indoor pool at the Manassas Park Community Center will be closed from 1:00pm-4:00pm Monday through Friday and 10:00am-12:00pm on Sunday.

With our indoor pool being our membership’s favorite facility, calling this decision a struggle would be an understatement. Members, residents, and patrons: we are truly grateful for your ongoing support and trust in the Department, which makes this decision that much more difficult and painful for us.

We want you to know that this is a temporary measure and our team is working diligently to continue to recruit lifeguards and explore creative ways to continue to be a competitive employer that attracts and retains dedicated and talented employees. We hope that you’ll bear with us through this difficult period.

Should you have any questions on the lifeguard shortage, pool hours, or are interested and available to work as weekday daytime lifeguards, please contact our Aquatics Manager, Sarah Barnett, at S.Barnett@manassasparkva.gov.

Thank you again for your continued support of Parks and Recreation.
