The Manassas Park Community Center is a Howlin’ Good Time this Fall – by Kaitlyn Collier

School’s back in session, and the weather is doing that thing where its chilly in the morning, then hot, then back to chilly! The chilly weather reminds us that October is right around the corner.  I cannot believe I am typing it, but the fall season is looming! If you are like me, then fall is your favorite season! I love the colors, the crisp air, and all the fun fall-themed activities. Speaking of fun fall activities, the Manassas Park Community Center needs to be on your list of where to go this fall!

On Saturday, October 14, from 10:00am-3:00pm, join us for our Annual Fall Festival! This festival began as a craft festival where artists could display their beautiful creations, but it has grown into a large festival with arts, crafts, local businesses, games, and many activities for the kids. We will have a moon bounce, crafts, games, and activities. There is truly something for every member of the family! The Annual Fall Festival will be held indoors, so no matter the weather, we will be inside having a great time!

After you find some goodies at the Fall Festival, be sure to come back to the Community Center that evening for our annual Fall Family Fun Night! Join us for fun games, activities, and a hayride through the park! The best way to spend a fall evening is by the fire, so come on out and roast some s’mores too!

Floating Gourd Night is Friday, October 20 from 7:00pm-8:30pm. This popular event is a scary good time! Kids, ages 5-11, have fun pumpkin picking in the Community Center pool! Suit up, jump in, and pick a pumpkin! Then dry off, decorate cookies, make a Halloween-themed craft, and make a splash in the pool!  Do not forget to bring your swim gear!

Make sure you add the Community Center onto your list of places to take the kids trick-or-treating! We have a twist on trick or treating which we call Trunk or Treat! On October 31 from 5:30pm-7:30pm, decorated vehicles line our parking lot with their trunks open and full of treats! We also have many activities for the whole family. We will have two moon bounces this year and Halloween arts and crafts! This year, we will host a costume contest, so dress to impress, and you could win a prize for the best costume!

Plan to join in on the weekly fun this October and throughout the fall season at the Manassas Park Community Center. There is fun to be had, making the entire month of October a howlin’ good time at the Community Center!
