In 2017, we conducted our first Patron Engagement Survey based on the survey done by the National Recreation and Parks Association. Though the participation pool was small, it provided some necessary insight for all of the Divisions here at Parks and Recreation.
Going into 2018, we refined the survey to make the data even more relevant for staff. With 130 survey participants this year (three times as many as 2017) and the additional questions, analyzing the survey has taken much longer; however, the added depth of information has been worth the extra effort. As a Department, we hope survey participation continues to grow each year.
The Patron Engagement Survey has proven to be one of the most useful tools for decision making by staff guiding resources to facilities, ideas for new programming, and methods of advertising. While it is not the only method we use for determining a decision, it is a significant piece of the larger puzzle.
