Relief for Furloughed Federal Employees During the Government Shutdown

Manassas Park Community Center Entrance

We at Parks and Recreation understand that many people in our area have been negatively impacted by the government shutdown. In order to provide some relief to those impacted, we’ve created two policies that will go in effect immediately and will last until the government shutdown ends.

If you are a Manassas Park Community Center member

During the government shutdown, furloughed members may freeze payments on their accounts until they return back to work. While payments are frozen, members may still take advantage of their membership including accessing the gymnasium, fitness rooms, and pool. All Access Passport members can still register and participate in programs included in the All Access Passport.

Once the government shutdown ends and you return to work, you will have 30 days to pay all membership fees that were accrued during this time.

In order to take advantage of this policy, please contact Amelia Powell at a.powell@manassasparkva.gov.

We know this is a difficult time for many people and their families and while these temporary policies cannot solve every complex issue your family is facing, we hope that they will ease part of your burden during this time.
