Springing Into Your Workouts! – by Kaitlyn Collier

It is a known fact that incorporating movement into our daily lives is important. Most of us use the beginning of the new year as motivation to make ourselves healthier, whether it’s via exercise, food, mental health, or a combo of all of these things! However, I noticed I get the most motivation when the weather starts warming up. Taking the dogs out for that 30 minute walk sounds much more enticing when its sunny and 70 degrees outside, rather than 17 degrees and windy. As soon as spring comes around the corner, I begin to notice a significant increase in the amount of people I see outside on a daily basis, which tells me that others get the same motivation from warm weather as I do.

To celebrate this warm weather, why not take an outdoor fitness class? Outdoor fitness classes combine enjoying the warm weather and exercise. Can it really get much better than that? We don’t think so either. That’s why, beginning next week on April 17, as long as mother nature doesn’t give us more cold, Outdoor Yoga will be starting! Yoga is a great exercise to add to your weekly workouts, whether you’re a beginner or a champion weight lifter. Yoga requires balance, core strength, and focus, all while working on improving your health. With Outdoor Yoga, you get to do this while you enjoy the beautiful spring weather!

If your idea of an outdoor workout does not involve stretching, how about but you try something in the pool? Look no further, we provide that too! At Signal Bay Waterpark, we have Water Walking beginning on June 23. This class takes place every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening at 6:30pm. This class is just another way to improve your health while being able to soak up the warm weather. Water walking is great for anyone who does not want to put too much pressure on their joints. Since exercises take place underwater, it is not as stressful and hard on the feet as walking on land. You may also make some new friends, and everyone knows that new workout friends are great partners to help you stay committed to your goals throughout summer.

Why not break out of your everyday indoor gym routine and try some outdoor fitness classes? Whether your preference leads you to Namaste’ing in Outdoor Yoga or walking in the water at the Signal Bay Waterpark Water Walking class, I guarantee you will come out feeling great. Movement is important to our bodies overall health, so let’s make it fun to get moving!
