It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. It seems like it had barely started!

The Special Events Division has had an exciting summer. We kicked summer off with the Father Daughter dance, which was a perfect way for dads (or any guardians) and daughters to spend some quality time together. This event was also filled with more fun than just dancing! Attendees got to play games, make crafts, and eat yummy snacks. However, the best part was definitely the quality time spent with family.

After the Father Daughter dance, we had our Ice Cream Social, which was a fun filled event for everyone! The Ice Cream social had more to offer than just ice cream, there were many games to play as well as crafts and some outdoor activities. Not to mention, a fully stocked sundae bar!

July held one of our biggest events, the Fourth of July celebration, which brought people from all over to Signal Hill Park to watch fireworks with friends and family. There was more than just fireworks! We had food trucks on site of all different types of food that guests loved. After an afternoon of food, music, and games, everyone enjoyed the massive fireworks display!

This summer ended with a little “glow” fun at our very first Glow in the Park after Dark event. This was the first year this event was held, and it was a blast to prepare and plan for it. This Glow event was so much fun, and it was amazing to see all of the cool colors! Glow in the Park after Dark had a wonderful DJ, an awesome moon bounce, a wide variety of glow in the dark games, a slime station, and refreshments. Everyone had the opportunity to “glow” with complimentary glow necklaces and bracelets. We also got to play a glow in the dark disc golf course, which added another element of fun to this event!

Even though summer is almost over, that does not mean the fun has to stop! We have plenty of Fall events coming up, such as the Fall Yard Sale, the Fall Festival, Floating Gourd, and Trunk or Treat. All taking place before November!

Be sure to check out the Manassas Park Community Center Facebook page for information about the upcoming events, and be sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on these opportunities for fun. Thanks to everyone who joined us for events! We can’t wait to show you what’s next!
