Where Do You Find Your Inspiration? – By Sue Jurjevic

We are now beginning our second month of 2018; I wanted to check in to see how is everyone doing with their New Year’s Resolutions?

Resolutions may be any number of goals you have set for yourself. They could include joining a fitness center, learning a new skill, or challenging yourself to try something new. When I think of setting goals or coming up with a plan to accomplish my goals, I often find myself consulting those who know me well. This helps me figure out ways to fulfill my resolution or reach my goal. They say if you have an accountability partner, you will most likely succeed. As I walk through the building, I notice friends dropping off their children at Kids Korner on their way to attend a fitness class together. They might ask each other about participants they have not seen in a while. This is how we can keep on track and stay committed.

Something else that keeps me inspired is my “inspirational” wall I created in my office. It is has pictures of those who bring encouragement and inspiration to my life. It also has quotes that remind me of what is important in my life. One of those photos is of a dear friend and coworker who was determined and made it a life goal to attend a friend’s wedding in Cancún despite being in the midst of battling cancer. Throughout her journey she never stopped fighting, giving to others, and putting others first.

It is easy to do this for yourself. Reflect on those in your life that inspire you or quotes that motivate you. Place pictures or post it notes on your mirror in your bathroom. The notes could remind you to go to the gym or that you are important and need to take care of yourself. As you head out of your house, remind yourself to visit or ask about a friend you have not seen in a while. Take a moment and take the steps to keep yourself going.
