(Ages 8-16) In collaboration with members of the Capital Cricket Premier League, the Athletics Division is excited to bring an Intro to Cricket program! This program is for youth ages 8-16 years old. The focus of the program is to develop hand-eye coordination and learning the fundamental aspects of the game while having fun.
What is Cricket?
With over 120 million people play worldwide, Cricket is one of the most popular sport in the world! The purpose of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. A Cricket match is divided into periods called innings. Before the game begins, it’s decided if both teams will have one or two innings. During the innings, one team bats while the other fields. All 11 players on the fielding team are on the pitch at the same time. However, only two batsmen are the field at any one time. The captain who wins the coin toss decides whether his team bats or bowls first. If they bat first, their aim is to score enough runs to make sure the other team does not reach that score.
